Monte Placido Vacation Rentals are located just five minutes from the beach, a 15-minute drive to Las Terrenas center. We are about 40 minutes from El Catey-Samana Airport and 2 hours from Santo Domingo airport. Driving Directions
From Santo Domingo Airport to Highway 7 (Samana) "Boulevard de Atlantico"
- Drive out of airport and look for signs to Santo Domingo. Stay LEFT. You will go up onto an over pass.
- *You will come to a toll booth. You pass through the toll for free. STAY TO THE RIGHT!!!
- STAY TO THE RIGHT! Go slowly. The turn off is shortly after the toll plaza.
- Look for a sign to MARGINAL - SAMANA Highway 7. DON'T MISS IT. It looks like you are turning onto the service road. If you miss this you will not be able to turn around for 10 miles.
- Continue on the service road about another 3/4 mile. Just after Caribe Tour Bus Station, look for sign to SAMANA. Turn right onto Highway 7 (Samana).
From the City of Santo Domingo to Highway 7 (Samana) "Boulevard de Atlantico"
Follow signs from the city to Airport Las Americas. You should end up on the Malecon which is a lovely coastal highway.
- As you get closer to the Airport be sure to stay in the left lane. You will notice a sign on the left for Zona Franca and you need to take the left lane and go straight down under the overpass . If you come to a toll booth you have gone too far on the Malecon and need to turn around.
- After you go down you will curve to the left and come to an intersection. Turn left onto the service road and soon you will see the sign for Highway 7 (Samana). Turn right onto the highway.
From Punta Cana Highway 7 (Samana) "Boulevard de Atlantico"
- Turn right on Autopista del Coral and follow Autopista #3 del Este towards Santo Domingo.
- Drive about one hour.
- Take take the by-pass around San Pedro de Marcorís, stay on Autopista #3 towards Las Americas Airport. *Follow directions above. As you get to the free toll booth, remember to go SLOW and look for exit on the right to Samana.
From Highway #7 (Samana) to Las Terrenas
Once you are on Highway #7 you can relax on this beautiful new scenic road. It is about and hour and a half drive. Be careful with speed limit and radar. You will pass through three toll booths (they do not take $2000 peso bills so have change ready).
- Highway #7 will come to an end at a T-Junction, turn right towards Samana / Sanchez.
- You will come to another toll both that you pass through for free. Drive another 100 meters.
- At next round-a-bout go left in the direction of Las Terrenas (do not go to Samana Airport).
- Taking the round-a-bout will lead you to a toll booth with looks like a trailer. This is the entry to the road to las Terrenas.
- Drive for about 20 minutes on this scenic mountain road towards the next round-a-bout. Stay right to towards Las Terrenas.
- Drive for about 10 minutes until you come to a major four way intersection. On the left you will see the ESSO STATION also signs for Samaná.
From the four way intersection by Esso Station to Monte Placido
OPTION 1 - LAS TERRENAS BY PASS
It is shorter not to drive through the town of Las Terrenas and take the new road by-pass. Go straight and do not turn left at the T-Junction with the ESSO Gas Station.
OPTION 2 - GO THROUGH TOWN OF LAS TERRENAS
Use this option only if you intend to go shopping or have lunch or dinner in town.

- From the four way intersection to the next T-Junction in La Barbacoa is 7 kilometers (about 10 minutes).
- At the T-Junction turn right. You will pass a baseball field on the left near the entry to Loma Esperanza. . Keep going and on the left you will pass residence La Bohemia. Drive another 500 meters. You will see Calle Luna on your RIGHT.
- Turn right on this dirt road, go another 50m and you see MONTE PLACIDO sign
- Turn left and get ready to make the climb. Take the first turn WIDE.
OPTION 2 - GO THROUGH TOWN OF LAS TERRENAS
Use this option only if you intend to go shopping or have lunch or dinner in town.
- At the four way intersection with the ESSO station, turn LEFT towards the city center.
- Stay on main street, go straight following the one-way that winds through town.
- Towards the end of town you will see a big wall with painted fresco. This this the cemetery.
- Keep going past the Punta Poppy Beach area and strip of restaurants towards El Portillo.
- Keep going, you will pass the all inclusive Hotel Bahia Principe.
- Go past the hotel and drive another 2km. You will see intersection (mentioned above) for the Las Terrenas bi- pass.
- Keep going another 1km. You will pass the baseball field, and Residencia Esperanza.
- Look for sign on RIGHT shoulder of road " CALLE LUNA". (Costamar sign fell down).
- Turn right on this dirt road, go another 50m and you see MONTE PLACIDO sign
- Turn left and get ready to make the climb. Take the first turn WIDE.
Turn right onto Calle Luna
- You will drive about 100 yards passing the little School (Escuela Basica)
- Take the first left at the blue house and Monte Placido sign.
- Stay to the left on the dirt road that curves around and brings you to a field.
- You will now see the entrance to the road going up the hill to Monte Placido.
- As you climb our hill, TAKE THE FIRST TURN WIDE.
Coming from Samana
- As you drive out of the City of Samana you will come to a T junction. Turn right towards El Limon / Las Terrenas.
- Travel about 35 minutes and pass through the Village of El Limon.
- You will pass an ISLA GAS STATION. In about 1.5km look for the corner to turn. You WILL NOT see the Calle Luna sign in this direction.
- Make a left onto Calle Luna by Colmado Nene
